New Alongside Google & Meta Ads, we now run Ads. See how

SEO in Salt Lake City, for Google and for the AI that answers instead.

Ranking is no longer the whole job. A growing share of buyers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google’s AI Overview and never scroll a results page at all.

Wasatch Web does SEO for Salt Lake City businesses from Riverton, Utah. The work covers the technical foundation, the answer-first content that both Google and AI assistants quote, structured data, and your Google Business Profile. It is included in the $299/month Business Website Plan, or quoted standalone, typically $400 to $1,500 a month depending on scope.

What changed 2024 onward

People stopped scrolling and started asking.

For twenty years, SEO meant one thing: get a blue link as high on the page as possible and collect the click. That still matters. What is new is that a large and growing share of searches now end in an answer instead of a list — Google’s AI Overview at the top of the page, or ChatGPT and Perplexity replacing the search entirely.

When that happens, the question is no longer "did we rank third?" It is "were we the source the answer was built from, and were we named?" Those are different jobs with a lot of overlap. Both reward a site that states plain facts clearly, in language a machine can lift without guessing.

This is not theoretical for us. Our own site is cited by ChatGPT and gets referral traffic from it. We wrote up how that works in how Utah businesses show up in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews.

The work Five parts

What we actually do for a Salt Lake City business.

Technical foundation

Crawlability, canonicals, sitemap, redirects, page speed, mobile rendering. Unglamorous and non-negotiable: if a crawler cannot read the site cleanly, nothing above it matters.

Answer-first content

Every important page opens by answering its own question in plain language, in the first paragraph, before the sales copy. That is what ranks, and it is what an AI assistant can quote without inventing anything.

Structured data

Organization, Service, FAQ and Article schema that matches the visible text exactly. It tells a machine what the page means rather than making it infer.

Google Business Profile

For a local business this is often worth more than the website. Categories, services, hours, photos, and a review flow that actually produces reviews.

Machine-readable summaries

A maintained llms.txt so assistants can read a correct summary of the business instead of assembling one from whatever they scraped. Ours is fetched regularly by Google-Extended and PerplexityBot.

Local relevance

Salt Lake City pages that name the city and the service honestly, plus the neighbouring areas you actually serve. No doorway pages for towns you have never worked in.

Cost Two routes

What it costs.

Included at $299/month. The Business Website Plan bundles technical SEO, analytics, two blog posts a month and managed Google and Meta ads with the site itself. For most Salt Lake City small businesses this is the sensible route, because the site and the SEO stop being separate arguments.

Standalone, $400 to $1,500 a month. If you already have a site you are happy with and want the SEO work only, it is quoted on scope: how many pages need rebuilding, how competitive the terms are, and how much content you want each month.

Either way the ad budget is separate. You pay Google and Meta directly and we never touch or mark up a cent of it.

Measurement What you get told

How you will know whether it worked.

One report a month, in plain language, covering what changed and what it produced. Search Console impressions and clicks for the terms that matter, Google Business Profile actions, form submissions and phone calls from the site, and the pages doing the most work. Not a 40-page PDF of vanity charts.

SEO is slow and we say so up front. Technical fixes can move things in weeks. Content and authority take months. Anyone promising page one by next Tuesday is selling something else.

Common questions SLC SEO FAQ

Questions Salt Lake City businesses ask.

How much does SEO cost in Salt Lake City?

It is included in the $299/month Business Website Plan alongside the site, hosting, analytics, two blog posts a month and managed Google and Meta ads. As a standalone service it is typically $400 to $1,500 a month depending on scope. Ad budget is always separate and paid directly to the ad platform.

How do Utah businesses show up in ChatGPT and other AI answers?

By being readable and quotable. That means answering the question in plain language in the first paragraph, using structured data that matches the visible text, keeping a machine-readable summary such as llms.txt, and allowing AI crawlers in robots.txt. Assistants cite sources they can parse without guessing.

How long does SEO take to work?

Technical fixes can show up in weeks. Content and authority take months. We give you a realistic timeline before starting rather than promising page one by a date we cannot control.

Do you guarantee first-page rankings?

No, and neither can anyone else honestly. Nobody controls Google. What we control is the technical foundation, the content, the structured data and the Google Business Profile, and we report on what those produce.

Do I have to rebuild my website to do SEO?

Not always. If the existing site is technically sound we work with it. If it is slow, uncrawlable or built on something that fights back, rebuilding is usually cheaper than fighting it every month, and we will say so plainly.
