SEO and AI Search Optimization for Utah Businesses
Getting found is now two jobs, not one: ranking on Google, and being the source an AI assistant quotes when it answers instead of listing. We do both, and we report on both honestly.
Half the searches that used to end in a click now end in an answer.
For two decades SEO meant one thing: get a blue link as high on the page as possible. That still matters and is still most of the traffic. What is new is that a large and growing share of searches now finish without a click at all, Google renders an AI Overview at the top of the page, or the person skips Google and asks ChatGPT, Perplexity or Gemini directly.
When the answer replaces the list, the question stops being "did we rank third?" and becomes "were we the source the answer was built from, and did it name us?" Those are related jobs with a lot of shared work, but they are not identical, and optimising only for the first one leaves the second to chance.
The good news is that the same discipline serves both. A page that states plain facts clearly, answers its own question in the opening paragraph, and backs that up with structured data is exactly what Google rewards and exactly what an assistant can quote without inventing anything. The sites that get cited are the ones that are easy to read correctly.
We are not describing this from the outside. Our own site is cited by ChatGPT and receives referral traffic from it, and our llms.txt is fetched regularly by Google-Extended and PerplexityBot. What we do for clients is what we did for ourselves. Most Utah businesses get this bundled with the site on the $299/month Business Website Plan.
Things we can build for you, for example.
Every project is custom-scoped to your business. Pick what you need, skip what you don’t, you only pay for the work you actually want done.
Technical foundation
Crawlability, canonicals, a sitemap that matches reality, clean redirects, page speed, mobile rendering, and no accidental noindex. Unglamorous and non-negotiable: if a crawler cannot read the site cleanly, everything above it is wasted.
Answer-first content
Every page that matters opens by answering its own question in plain language, in the first paragraph, before the positioning. That is what earns a featured snippet, and it is the paragraph an AI assistant lifts when it cites you.
Structured data that matches
Organization, Service, FAQ and Article schema kept in exact agreement with the visible text. Schema tells a machine what a page means instead of making it guess. Schema that contradicts the page is worse than none.
Machine-readable summaries
A maintained llms.txt so assistants read a correct, current summary of your business rather than assembling one from whatever they last scraped, plus a robots.txt that actually admits the AI crawlers you want citing you.
Google Business Profile
For a local business this is frequently worth more than the website. Correct categories, services, hours and photos, and a review flow that reliably produces reviews instead of hoping for them.
Local relevance, honestly
Pages that name the city and the service plainly, for the places you genuinely serve. No doorway pages for thirty Utah towns you have never worked in, that stopped working years ago and now actively hurts.
You probably need this if…
- A service business that ranks for its own name but nothing else
- A site that looks fine and gets no organic traffic
- A business that shows up in Google but never in ChatGPT answers
- A rebuild that needs its rankings carried across, not reset
- A Google Business Profile that has never been properly filled out
- A company whose competitors keep appearing in AI Overviews instead
300+ businesses. Zero bad reviews.
Every review is public, on our Google Business Profile and our KSL listing.

The questions most clients ask before starting.
How do Utah businesses show up in ChatGPT?
By being easy to read correctly. Answer the question in plain language in the first paragraph, keep structured data in exact agreement with the visible text, publish a machine-readable summary such as llms.txt, and allow the AI crawlers in robots.txt. Assistants cite sources they can parse without guessing, so clarity beats keyword density. There is no paid placement in an AI answer.
What does SEO cost?
It is included in the $299/month Business Website Plan alongside the site, hosting, analytics, two blog posts a month and managed Google and Meta ads. As a standalone service it is typically $400 to $1,500 a month depending on scope. Ad budget is always separate and paid directly to the ad platform, never marked up.
How long does SEO take to work?
Technical fixes can show up in weeks. Content and authority take months. We give you a realistic timeline before starting rather than promising a page-one date nobody controls.
Do you guarantee first-page rankings?
No, and nobody honest does. We control the technical foundation, the content, the structured data and the Google Business Profile, and we report on what those produce. Anyone guaranteeing a ranking is either guessing or selling you branded terms you already own.
Do I need to rebuild my website to do SEO?
Not always. If the existing site is technically sound we work with it. If it is slow, uncrawlable, or built on a platform that fights back, rebuilding is usually cheaper than paying to fight it every month, and we will tell you that plainly rather than billing you to lose slowly.
How will I know whether it is working?
One report a month in plain language: Search Console impressions and clicks for the terms that matter, Google Business Profile actions, form submissions and phone calls from the site, and which pages are doing the work. Not a forty-page PDF of vanity charts.
